The first addition to my closet this year is Angelic Pretty's Crystal Dream Carnival Tiered JSK.
This dress arrived with the graceful patina of time, showing its age through a slight fading that only adds to its vintage allure. More intriguing, however, are the modifications: the shoulder decorations and waist bow have been expertly repurposed into a headbow. While I considered reversing them, there is a strategic brilliance in this adaptation - it solves the impossible task of matching this dress's elusive 'blurple' hue with a matching headpiece. I could, obviously, use white, but having another exotic-colored dress (AP's Puppet Circus in deep pink) my previous experience has shown me that it's always wise to come to the basics and have a headpiece made from the original fabric.
The color itself is surrounded by ambiguity. It sits on the edge of the spectrum, where the purple peplum meets the blue lace in a way that modern cameras simply cannot comprehend. To the lens, the peplum is blue; to the connoisseur’s eye, it is a deep, exotic purple.
I don't see this color discrepancy as a flaw, but as a privilege. Mastering a coordinate for a piece this complex isn't just a hobby—it’s a challenge I am more than ready to accept.
