[Manga] Lolita Meshi

Lolita Meshi is a manga I accidentaly came across on internet, so I had to register it here for the future lolita generations. This is not a synopsis or a review, mainly because I couldn't get my hands on the second volume translated, so I'll be telling the story as far as could understand.

The title, translated poorly by me, can mean "lolita meal". It is a manga by Okano Kuko, available in two volumes. In it, we are introduced to Natsuko Tsurugi, 20, also known as Rin. Rin is addicted to lolita fashion for at least half a year, and she has a dilemma: she tries to keep the lolita appearance of eating only sweets (maybe she took it of Kamikaze Girls? Lacks sources), but what she really likes is eating compulsively large "non cute" meals, such as Katsudon. She eats in a very strange way, that looks a little bit like she is having an org*sm, so much that older people stares at her eating with some kind of surprise.

In a strange way, Tanaka Fuyuya, 20, ends up a little bit interested on her, while seeing her eating with her fellow lolitas in a canteen, and he starts to wonder more about her eating habits, as she says to her friends she only eats sweets. After the meet and still hungry, Rin ends stopping on a restaurant, where Tanaka happens to work, and he starts to have more interest on what the girl is doing, eating compulsively. Surprisingly, for a third time, she ends up in the same place that he is eating, and his interest keeps growing more and more...

I really hope the second volume be translated soon, it was a very fun reading~

The inspiring Lolita outfits in Gokinjo Monogatari Anime

Gokinjo Monogatari, also translated as Neighborhood Story, is a manga (and soon later, an anime and an anime film) by Yazawa Ai. The manga was published between 1995 and 1998, and had an anime adaptation that aired between 1995 and 1996. The story goes around two childhood friends, Mikako Kouda and Tsutomu Yamaguchi, who happen to be neighbors since forever, and also their relationship with their nearest circle of family and friends in the neighborhood and in the school they attend, and everyone's evolution to the adult life and daily struggles, like carreer, dreams, studies and love. As I watched only the anime, I will talk about what I saw.

I am not a very anime person, but when we speak about a lolita character in an anime, my curiosity gets unbearable. That's the thing here: we have a lolita character in this anime! Mostly know as "P-chan", Oota Mai is present in most episodes and, gasp! with different outfits!

Of course that the anime isn't centered about lolita, but I love how Yazawa portrays the style in the anime, not making only one outfit, but MANY! It is very interesting to see how the different medias portrays lolita fashion, and Gokinjo Monogatari is an enormous treasure because it shows a little bit of how oldschool lolita was perceived at that time (1995-1996).

Talking about P-chan without giving spoilers is a very difficult task, so I will focus on show her outfits rather than saying anything. One curiosity: the "P" nickname is given to her because of the high pitch in her voice, that sounds like a whistle. P-chan is excellent in making stuffed animals (no spoilers here), and she is always with her bunny, Petite Françoise.
She is seen in some episodes wearing a long plaid dress, and in others a cute mini skirt, but these are the exceptions, because most of the time she is seen wearing lolita fashion.
I really got kinda obsessed with her while watching, and I realized she wore bloomers-like shorts for the physical education classes and she even wears cute room wear to sleep and her room is so adorably lolified, help!
P-chan's signature outfits consists in bucket hats, or berets, usually dresses, mary jane shoes or boots. P-chan also styles her hair in the same way everyday, which is much practical for someone who wears lolita everyday. Her dresses are simple, as the dresses lolitas wore in that time.
I tried to print screen the different outfits just for reference ^^  Enjoy!

I hope it be useful for someone in the future who may be searching for lolitas in animes!

Lolitas in Chocolat no Mahou

My friend Heidi recommended me this anime, so thank you so much dear!

Chocolat no Mahou is about a Chocolatière named Aikawa Chocolat, who sells chocolates that can make wishes come true. In every episode, a new customer comes to the store to have their wishes fulfilled, but in exchange, they must pay something very important to Chocolat, which is up to her to decide what it will be.

The anime is in OVA format, and was produced between 2011 and 2012. The episodes are not related to each other at all. They usually take about 15 minutes, so it is very light and pleasant to watch.

About the lolita characters, there are only two: the Chocolatière and a customer in one of the episodes.

Aikawa Chocolat: the lolita who runs the Chocolat Noir store. Chocolat has a very difficult past, but I can't talk about it because, spoilers.

Kousaka Ruri: her appearance is in the ep. 4. She is a beginner fashion designer and loves to make "cosplay clothes with lots of ruffles". Many of her designs resemble lolita fashion.

I really want to try the manga, I heard there are more stories!
The animation is very short, only 13 episodes, and they kinda end up very suddenly; maybe that's on purpose to make us try the mangas :) if that is the case, that worked really well lol.
