Yeah! Last days I got my copy of Otome no Sewing 17 that I had preordered through a brazilian bookstore. I think I will keep doing it to not miss any volume anymore.
About the Otome itself, I think there could be more "pure" lolita material (even though I like the Pink House-esque dresses, I would love to have more strict lolita silhouette patterns). But the few ones that are in there are very interesting, and I am wanting to sew them to wear to my cello classes; Bonus for the coffin bag that looks so cute, but I need to figure out what they use to give it the strenght/shaping.
About the purchase itself, I want to try buying straight from Japan in the next time to compare how long it takes to arrive, versus the taxes and shipping, and the final price. It took four months to arrive, starting to count since the release date. I didn't find the amount I paid for the brazilian bookstore bad, in fact it is very reasonable, but maybe it could arrive earlier if ordered directly from Japan with EMS, not by sea. So, just curiosity. But indeed, it is so easier to order through the brazilian bookstore, plus you don't have any headdache.
I´m sorry for troubles with shipping, hopefully, your experiment will be quicker if anything else :D. I can´t wait to see your future handmade pieces.
ReplyDeleteI´m not sure if it is because of EU, but we have import fees high enough to make any purchase not worth it, which is what always stops me from buying pattern books for lolita.
We have too, like 60% of the item value plus shipping, plus a handling fee, and if the customs think we are faking the value, they just create an imaginary value and tax us. It was told that books cannot be taxed, but who knows, my husband was taxed with books once. I think I just have to order and see lol
