[Lolita 52 Challenge] 3 trends I wish would come back

Today's theme for the Lolita 52 Weeks Challenge is: 3 trends I wish would come back.

To be honest, I never keep up with trends, mostly because I am not a social person, so I never know what people are doing new these days. So, instead, I will write about 3 things that I wish that would come back in lolita fashion.

1. The blogspot era

It was so fun to read about a lolita's adventure in real life in a very pinkish blog, carefully decorated with gifs and sparkling cursors! To be honest, that was my way inside the lolita culture; I would always go to a cyber cafe (because at that time, internet was a little bit hard to have at homes in Brazil) and keep up with lolitas from all over the world - the coat "x" made for winter, the adventures of "y" traveling to another country in last weekend, how "z" wears lolita to go to university... It was a lot more deep and personal than an Instagram carousel. It was really inspiring. Everytime I find a new blog I keep very excited because it is so fun to discover new things in lolita! Sometimes I discover new brands, bands, maybe a coord inspire me to try something new...

2. The lifestyle

Back in my days - yeah, I am talking like a grandma because I am almost like one, just without any grandkid - people really admired the lifestyle, and some would sigh and wish they could live the lolita lifestyle. Nowadays, it is pretty much the opposite, and some lolitas, when asked about the lolita lifestyle, deny it right away with so much strenght like if being a lifestyler means something like having a contagious disease. Like if doing some embroidery or wearing lolita often was something depravated and not acceptable morally lol. I feel that in my times people would enjoy lolita in a different way, in a way they feel happy about themselves, not mattering the others. A selfish pleasure; Being alone in a rainy afternoon, seeing the raindrops drip along the window's glass while enjoying a warm cup of tea, reading something pleasant while wearing some cute frills. The lifestyle would be just a complement to make the world a little bit more beautiful to match their clothes, just that.
Not that I am wanting to obbligate people to have a lolita lifestyle, I would just love to understand why people hate it so much. Well, their misfortune; I keep living happy in my pink bubble.

3. The publications

That's the big loss of the last decade in my oppinion. It is like if lolita fashion lost something very important. I really wish that, with the growing of the international community, more magazines would get available, but instead, almost nothing is done. I don't have enough words to describe how the lolita magazines were important to my personal style and lifestyle, sorry, it is something in a very deep personal way. I just wish they would come back - not the digital stuff, the real paper stuff. If you already touched a physical Gothic and Lolita Bible, you might know what I am talking about.

And you, what you wish that would come back to lolita?

  1. I always try to comment in every and each post, but I had to come directly to this one.

    1. I really loved how lolita was a decade ago, especially the magazines! I miss them a lot! Everytime I have the opportunity to buy an old magazine I do it for the nostalgy! Thank you so much! It is an honor to hear that ^^

  3. I miss these times from the bottom of my heart, internet ws so much healthy, information flow was so accurate, we had defined niches and great communities. People used to help each other, of course everything evolved in some way, but i'm not sure if it is in a good way. My aunt at the time was living in japan, so for me it was easier to access mangas and magazines we don't usually see around here. I don't want to talk like a grandma but these times were gold.

    1. Exactly! Lolita was different, in a very deeper level! I really can't put it into words, but I really miss how it was ten years ago.

I'm honestly hoping to revive the blogspot era XD doing my part on my blog, and hoping other people will shoutout their favorite blogs on livejournal as well...

  5. It was so nice reading this entry!!♡ I share the same sentiments for these three things as well, especially with content that can be read~! Blogs and publications are still my favorite medium so it is very sad how a lot of them have disappeared over the years.
