As you can see in the title, today's Lolita 52 Weeks Challenge theme is "Parasols: Vital or Frivolous?".
For me, they are in the vital side. You know, living in Brazil makes it kinda impossible to buy real parasols, because of the huge distance of a real lolita store, the devaluation of the brazilian money comparing to dollar, and for the 60% of the value of the item+shipping as a tax you should pay to the brazilian government every time you buy something abroad. Known this fact, while I was a beginner I would search local stores for generic foldable parasols (and I found many cute ones!), and sometimes even customize normal umbrellas to walk under the sun. Today, I still have only a few parasols, but every time I go out to walk under the sun for a long time I carry one with me.
Although I am being obbligated to use a parasol, because I am in the middle of a skin treatment, I think this is a very good habit to adopt; As it is not good to get exposed to sun too many time because of cancer and skin aging, parasols are a good choice, and also make wearing lolita in hot weather more bearable. Bonus if you need to hit someone, you alredy have a weapon with you, lol!
And you, do you think parasols are frivolous or vital?
They are vital! Totally vital! I still don't have one for the reasons you wrote above. I'm Brazilian, so it's to expensive here. I'd like to customize one, but didn't do that yet.
ReplyDeleteYes I agree! They are practical, cute and elegant 😊
DeleteI wish it wasn't so hard to get one...
DeleteEu acho parasol algo muito fofo combinando com o outfit, além de ser muito útil. Aqui em Belém é aconselhável andar com uma sombrinha que sirva para o sol e para a chuva. Podemos estar no sol torrando a cabeça e de repente o céu ficar escuro e começar a chover kkkkkk e vise versa.
ReplyDeleteSim! É sempre bom andar prevenida!
